About Me

My photo
"I can't help it, if I wanted to. I can't help myself, even if I could . . ." . . . but, I'm a 'Michael-holic' to the very core ;-) ! Miss him more, everyday.

I Can't help it, but...

...I think about Michael all day, every day.

Listening to his music...
Playing a certain song over & over & over, again...
Watching videos...
Hanging out in my favorite forums...
Keeping up w/latest news...
Praying for his Mom, his kids, Janet...
It keeps him close to my heart...

It's like catching up w/a long-lost friend - my friend, the friend I never met, but miss sooo very much.

Why is that?

I Look to You - Whitney Houston

...is this a cry for help...did we miss it, again...? As I lay me down Heaven hear me now I’m lost without a cause After giving it my all Winter storms have come And darkened my sun After all that I’ve been through Who on earth can I turn to?

Jackson dead before paramedics arrived, court told (Yahoo news article)

My Yahoo response to Headhunter's ignorant & insensitive comment...

"...what other drugs had he been involved with ?" Well, gee - let's go back & read the autopsy report. Let's read what traces of drugs were found in his blood stream & organs. Speaking of organs, let's also read how damaged his organs were . . . " MJ wasn't no Lindsey Lohan. His time in rehab (to help him kick his addiction to prescription meds) was successful. Michael's death was the result of receiving "hollywood healthcare" by a star-struck, money-hungry, incompetent, enabling, "alleged medical professional" - who, scarily, is licensed to perform heart surgery, but doesn't know how to perform CPR.

I, too, know what an addict looks like.
Mike wasn't it.

"Still to this day, I can remember, the first time I met Michael. I immediately noticed something different about him. There was something in his eyes; it was like being in the presence of someone holy." -Leonard Rowe, May 14th 2010 Atlanta, GA

Michael Jackson sign is restored at Hollywood school

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.a/6a00d8341c630a53ef01157065d554970c-800wi

For seven years, the gleaming silver letters that once proclaimed the Michael Jackson Auditorium at Gardner Street Elementary School in Hollywood were hidden behind white plywood boards.

The boards had been placed there to hide the name of the pop singer at the behest of parents shortly after Jackson was arrested on suspicion of child molestation in 2003. Since his death last year, fans had rallied for the restoration of the sign, which they saw as a symbol of Jackson’s legacy.

Now, Jackson’s name gleams again.

Los Angeles Unified School District Supt. Ramon C. Cortines ordered the boards stripped away Friday "in recognition of Michael Jackson’s musical legacy and contribution to modern culture."

A school district spokesman said the decision was made in large part because Jackson had been acquitted of criminal charges in the molestation case.

On Friday night, a Facebook page calling for the restoration of the sign was overflowing with joyous comments.

"I could cry!!" one person wrote. "I wish he were here to see this!!"

On the page, devotees from places as far away as Japan and Sri Lanka posted photos of themselves holding handmade posters calling for the boards to be stripped away.

Fans had planned to show up at a school board meeting Tuesday to demand that the sign be revealed.

Jackson was briefly enrolled as a student at Gardner Street Elementary. In 1969, he and his family moved to Los Angeles from Gary, Ind., so that Jackson and his brothers could make a record with Motown.

Jackson was an 11-year-old sixth-grader at the school when the Jackson 5 released their debut album, a smash hit that foreshadowed Jackson’s record-breaking solo career.

The Gardner auditorium was dedicated to Jackson in 1989. He attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, where the school's choir sang "We Are the World," a tune Jackson co-wrote.

An illustration of Jackson's face was posted in the auditorium in 1989, and a picture depicting the singer surrounded by children was hung in the main office. The auditorium drawing was removed several years ago because it kept falling down. The picture in the office also was removed to make room for a new intercom system.

I Love Wembley Stadium!

They showed Mike sooo much love!

(He’s listed first for a reason!  Keep reading!)

Music

Wembley Stadium became a musical venue in August 1972 with an all-star rock 'n' roll concert called the London Rock and Roll Show. It since played host to a number of concerts and events, most notably the British leg of Live Aid, which featured such acts as David Bowie, Queen, Paul McCartney, The Who, Dire Straits and U2, was held at the stadium on 13 July 1985.

Other charity concerts which took place in the stadium were the 1988 Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute concert, The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness and the NetAid charity concert.

Acts who played at Wembley Stadium include:

During Michael Jackson's Bad Tour in 1988, seven sell-out concerts were staged at Wembley which included five in a row, and two at a later date. Each concert had an attendance of 72,000 people. According to the Guinness Book of World Records Jackson set a new world record with 504,000 people attending the seven total concerts. These seven concerts were highly anticipated and created huge media attention. A further six sell-out concerts followed in 1992 during his Dangerous Tour and his three shows in 1997 during his HIStory Tour brought total tickets sold to over 1.1 million. Until the demolition of the 1923 stadium, this record had not been beaten.

What do the names on this list have in common?  This list is 21 of 135 names picked as the final nominees for:
NPR’s 50 Great Voices 2010

Yes, that’s right – Michael is NOT listed.  I searched.  Several times.

As I look @ this short list (of just a few names I recognized from the complete list), it leads me to believe, this nomination doesn’t just recognize “the voice,” but the artist’s “reach” & impact – worldwide – as well as the content of their songs, as they related to the “current events” taking place @ the time.

Well, with that said, whyyy then, is Michael absent?  I nominated Michael & used “Earth Song” as proof of his “voice,” showcasing his range; “content,” showcasing his song-writing abilities that expressed his heart-felt compassion for our environment – which relates to the times, then & now.  I even submitted the track in the email, as well as the lyrics.

I’m really confused.  Is it just me?

(I found out about the nominations on michaeljackson.com (SONY sponsored), so it’s not as if the nominations were a secret.)
